How much will this score limit me?

Hi

Got my score back for Step 1- 231. This is no where near what everybody else here is getting (you all are freaking smart). How limited am I in getting a competitive residency? Some use cut-off scores right?

the average for neurosurgery was 235 this year...yeah, i'd say your chances are really limited. grin

Hey guys- thanks for the replies. Sorry if I sound naive. It's just that on Studentdoctor.com and here, everyone and their sisters are getting 250+/99. shocked

Also, 235 for NEUROsurg?!? That's gotta be a typo... If radiology is like 240, neurosurg must be 260. right??

What is the average for surgery? What is the average number of new residents into a surgery program??
