Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Hi!
I just took step one for the first time and unfortunately I got 74, I'm pretty bummed out... I studied for 4 months with Kaplan's intensPrep review, first aid for step one, and I also did 80% of kaplan's Q bank, with an average of 68% of correct answers, I was very thorough but couldn't make it.
I'm trying to reoutline my study plan, but I feel very lost and tired. I need advice on how to tackle it again, if anyone has gone through the same. I'm also very concerned about not being able to get into residency having failed it.
Thanks for any advice!!!

Hi,

Just wanted to cheer you up abit. Dont be despaired...you're almost there and I am sure that on your next attempt you'll make it. Just take a couple of weeks off, then start the studying again....this time doing alot of questions....anything you can get a hold on. Don't wait too long to start again as now the information is still fresh in your mind.
Take care now...and God bless

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about your experience.
Try to identify the weak points in the exam and correct them.
And do lots of questions in your preparation.

Failure is just a step to success :!:

Regards!

Cheer up,

Relax a few weeks and then get back on track. Relax and forget averything about the exam right now.

Also as the administrator suggested also, see your weak points.

If nescesary purchase books related to that subject. But remembre you might get lucky and the next exam might be mostly on what you know best and score higher and you will have better possibilities into getting into a better program.

Good Luck and program your exam for January 15.

Best regards!!

Enrique

Hi connico

Don't get discouraged. You are lucky not to get stuck with a low score. And the opportunity is there for you again.
Cheer up, relax, and try to fill the gaps this time.
Good luck to you and to all of us!

I can't believe how many stories of failure I'm reading here! Anyway you CAN pass. My best advice is get the Goljan stuff. Here's what I wrote others:

You are not alone. I failed too, and posted my comeback attempt here under my daily diary this summer. Please do a search under "Namf: Daily Diary".

I hope you don't find it offensive--I am not interested in profiting on your pain--but I am selling my Goljan materials at cost on 2 CDs. Just write me at bookcash@yahoo.com--don't send it to my inbox here please.

Whatever happens, know this: you can do it.

HEy there,
I'm actually a new member to this forum. Well, I'm also a FMG but from the US. I took my step 1 in june and also failed but planning to retake it in 3 wks. However, i felt like NMBE was the closest to the usmle exam. I didn't score that great on it 360. At least 10 questions were verbatam from my 1st exam. I feel like q bank gives u false hopes, at least for a few people....MY best advise is not to give up!!1 You are so close..Well, i'm not going to give up...I know it's just a matter of hard work, patience and faith in God. Just know that u are not alone...A lot of students fail the 1st time around but make up for it in their retake...GOd bless
