Hi Friends,

I'm an IMG & Going to start my preparation for step 1 on 18th of this month. Now I'm collecting the books & making a strict schedule for this exam.I can study full time. The problem is I have to take the test in october.

So,I have only about 15 weeks for the preparation.I have kaplan books , first aid & Goljan notes.Do you think this time is enough?.How much time it will take for the 1st reading?.How can I divide my time efficiently for reading & doing questions?.How much time I should study for a day?.Please give your advice & suggestions.I can't postpond the exam & I have to take it in October.I need your advice urgently.

Thanks for your time.

Start ASAP 10 hrs/day. To tell you the truth I thought I could prepare for this exam for 3-4 mos. but after that period I am still studying til now my 7th month but hey you might be using your time more efficiently than me . Also i am not a newly grad IMG.

My best advise, 10 hrs per day, nonstop, be focused, do lots of q's & only you & you alone can make it happen and of course pray that He will guide you along the way.

Good luck..

I studied 5 hours per day for 9 months and did very well
I agree, at least 10 hours a day are needed to prepare for the exam in 4-month period

good god - do you guys get pleasure out of freaking people out - there is no way you can expect to study for 4months for ten hours a day - thats insane - you will have forgotten everything you learnt at the start by the end!! i did 4wks!!! hard work i know but if you have worked all the way through college you should have enough grounding in medicine to do ok
