I have to go now, but I need to ask you guys a last one question... I was trying to get the USMLE Step 1 Review from Kaplan in the Barnes&Noble Book Store but it seems that they don't have those in stock... so.. could anyone tell me a place where I can buy them? I would prefer to buy them in a conventional book store but if there's no other way I supose I can settle with an on-line purchase even i don't like much the idea .. I live in Chicago right now, thanks for your help !!

Happy Holidays, Susie, you can also can get the Kaplan Review on Ebay it could be much cheaper (food for thought). I am a native from Chicago but currently living in the east coast but it's a great city to be in. I use to volunteer as a Interpreter/ Triage Nurse in non profit organization called Community Health Clinic it serves 72% Hispanics. If you have time I would highly recommend it, get exposure to residents in Internal Medicine and Family Medicine. here is some more info, http://www.volunteermatch.org/results/org_detail.... take care Confe

hi arciniega!.....mmrs stands for "Microbiology made ridiculously simple"....i first hear of it on the review section on the final pages of the 1st aid step one and it had a very good rate so i bought it.....there are a few books on the "mrs" series but micro is definitively the best.... BRS physio is indeed board review series and is it written by Linda Costanzo....good book... but MMRS is worth every penny...

Hey everyone, Feliz aņo nuevo a todos! I have not written for quite a while but I wanted to see how everybody was doing (chema, drgaxmax, etc). I am going on an exchange program to the University of Texas at Austin next week where I will be taking some of the basic sciences of my med school curriculum for a whole semester. I think this will help me prepapre for the USMLE Step I. I would appreciate any advice you guys can give me about living in the United States or about the classes. This exchange program is new in Universidad de Guadalajara. Every year UT Austin sends about 3 or 4 students to take some classes at CUCS but nobody has ever gone to UT from CUCS. I am going to be the first student and I am somewaht nervous. Well I hope everybody is doing well and good luck in your studies. Saludos, Amado

HI CHEMA ,HOW ARE YOU ON THESE FIRST DAYS OF 2006? I'M FINE THANKS TO GOD. RESPECT OF YOUR DOUBT ABOUT OF WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ESL AND TOEFL,MY ANSWER IS THAT ESL (ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE) IS A COURSE WHERE YOU CAN LEARN AND INCREASE YOUR LEVEL OF ENGLISH,SO,TOEFL IS AN EXAM TO EVALUATE YOUR LEVEL OF ENGLISH. ESL IS TO STUDY ENGLISH AND TOEFL IS AN EXAM TO EVALUATE ONE. DEPENDING ON YOUR LEVEL OF ENGLISH YOU CAN SCORE MORE POINTS. AND DEPENDS YOUR MOTIVE OF TAKE THIS EXAM (TOEFL) YOU CAN SAY THAT YOU REACHED YOUR GOAL,OR NOT. SO,BOTH ARE DIFFERENT THINGS. YOU NEED ASK IN YOUR SCHOOL ABOUT IF YOU CAN OBTAIN THIS DEGREE WHEN YOU LEARN WELL ENGLISH,BECAUSE SOME SCHOOLS DON'T HAVE THIS EXAM IN HIS OFFER. WHEN I WAS IN UdG PROULEX A FEW MONTHS AGO I ASKED AND THEM HAVE THIS OFFER. ARE NOT IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND TO ME,MY ENGLISH NOT IS VERY WELL,BUT MAY BE YOU CAN IF YOU ARE MAGICIAN! BYE!

, your english is understandable, just like mine, but if we study and practice weīll be able to improve it as much as we want. Thanks for asking. To be honest (as I am), I feel well, not happy, not sad, just well. The way is difficult but I hope itīs worth it.

Hello everybody. Hi Lorena, I think i am going to need your experience as i am applying to california ONLY. I am applying to the 2006-2007 match, i alredy cleared step 1 and i am taking step 2 ck in feb. I feel bad because i haven't been able to get any USCE or even a job in the healthcare category. Any advice you could give me will be highly appreciated. I wish you and everybody else luck in interviews and preparation for the steps.

Sure drgaxmac. I wish i had somebody to advice me a year ago, although so far things are going pretty well, and i dont complain If you are going to apply in California i recommend you to get started with your California letter or PTAL as soon as you pass step 2 ck. It takes very long, i applied at the beginning of august and got it at the end of december (it takes 6 to 9 months). When you apply for the match, some programs wont invite you to interview until you have it! so the sooner the better. Read about what you need at: http://www.medbd.ca.gov/Index.htm go to services for applicants and read the requirements, so you can get some things in advance even before aplying -your school has to fill up some forms regarding clerkship rotations, clinicals, dates of enrollement , graduation, etc- The board of California is very strict and for them ECFMG certification is not enough so prior to start a residency they have to verify that you come from a medical school approved by them and also certify your medical education, number of clinical hours, electives, etc. It is just a lot of paperwork that takes time! The ideal and you still have time is that you have your Cali letter for september when applying for the match. Please let me know if you have any doubts regarding the cali letter, i remember at the beginning it was very confusing for me.

Hello! Until now I found a place were us the Mexican IMG can talk about our experience in our quest to get into the US health system. I little about myself, I am a UAG graduate from 2004, and I obtain my ECFMG certificate last september, since I finish with step 1 (203), Step 2 CK (210) ans CS (pass). I've appliede to the 2006 match in with I obtain 3 interviews. In my las interview I got a Prematch deal with a University based program. So as you see it can be done, just have to have disciple and courage to really furfill your dream to enter into a residency program. If I can be of help, please let me know and I will answer any question you have Saludos y Arriba Mexico!!!
