Chema: Thanks man, I found it just surfing through google. Its good to hear from you. How is residency treating you? Hope all is well. Egomez: I was just looking into mexican hospitals because I like to keep an open mind, I want to feel like I have options. I didnt know that so many residents from INNSZ went to the US to do a fellowship. Its quite interesting.

Medusin, Oh I see..., I think it´s a good way of thinking..., have you consider Spain?..., to get a position there is easier than in Mexico..., also have to take only one test (MIR) and the level of medicine it´s improving a lot because the influence of the Europian Union and you get to rotate in other countries in Europe as a resident... Chema, nice to see you around

Egomez: Nice! Congrats! Gloria: Patience is a virtue. Dont worry, you will be fine, I know it!!! Best of luck (good) to you! I have a question about ENARM. If you take it and pass it, but decide not to enter residency that year, can you still save the score for the next time? if you then take it again next year, will they take the higher grade or how does that work? I am sorry to say that I am more informed on USMLE but dont know enough about ENARM!!! How does the scoring differ from USMLE and how do hospitals evaluate them? Thanks and the best to all of you!!!

Medusin, If you pass ENARM this year and decide for whatever reason not to go into a residency, you lost your place and you have to retake it next year, they will not consider the previous grade at all... About Spain, it´s my second options if I´m not able to get into the US..., I already made valid my MD in Spain, which is necesary to take the MIR test (Medico Interno Residente)..., if u are interested check it out... http://www.mec.es/ See you around!

Karime, medusin and Gomez, thank you so much for the moral support!! at least I have not received any rejections so I guess all I need right now as you said is patience. Medusin: That makes 2 of us knowing more about the USMLE's than the ENARM but what Gomez said is totally true. Spain is a great option!! Although the MIR is brutal!!! I've seen it and from my point of view it is even harder then the USMLE's but I guess if you study for it since every exam has its point of view it is not that bad. I know that spanish medical graduate study for a whole year after medical school just for the MIR. One great thing about Spain is that when you pass the MIR the scores are very valid and you choose your specialty from the highest scoring to the lowest, doesn't matter if you are a foreign medical graduate or a graduate from Spain, that means that if you happen to be the best scoring student you get to pick whichever specialty you want in the place that you want!! Very amazing stuff!! I think it is very fair!!! Also if you like Plastics it is a great option because you don't have to do previous years of general surgery like in Mexico, instead you enter directly to plastics, and I think a lot of specialties are like that so residency training is much shorter. Another great thing is that after graduating there is no such thing as visa issues and you can stay and work there if you like and you can make a very goodddd living!!! Plus spanish people are really cute and happen' to love Mexicans!!! Really great stuff!!! I have a couple of close friends that did their internship in spain and said that it is the best thing ever....bottomline Spain is an amazing option... Gomez: It is so great that you already validated your studies in Spain!!! Congrats!!!Have you ever studied for the MIR?

Glo, I have never study for the MIR, a friend of mine have some test like questions and they don´t appear to be that hard, waayyyy easier than USMLE type qs... Agree with you about Spain..., very nice country, friendly and happy people, they love us, nice culture, good quality of life, good $, load of work it´s not crazy, have a lot of options for training and for work... Have some 4 friends in Spain and 1 in Portugal and they couldn´t be happier in the big picture, the one in Portugal passed step 1 and step 2 with flying colors, met a girl from Portugal and decided to go that way, the guy is happier than ever... Now, I don´t think Spain it´s at the level of the USA in medicine but as you said Glo, taking into consideration a lot of factors Spain is an amazing option

hi guys, responding to GLO's question, I'm doing internal medicine, first year. egomez: residency is going ok, I feel comfortable in the program, and I'm adapted to the city as well. one small advice for you guys is to always take into consideration how well you fit in the program and with the other current residents, because you'll work all day with them... in other words, look for a benign atmosphere.... see you

TO ALL BUAP GRADUATES: Credential Verification Hi all, maybe this can help you too! The verification of my credentials have been very tedious and wanted to share my experience to others so you too can follow the process. After multiple submission (4 that I know of) from ECFMG to the BUAP. I decided to talk to ECFMG to see how I can speed up the process. The Following steps were required, § Open a Fed-Ex account ( by recommendation of ECFMG) § Authorize ECFMG to use account to submit credential verification paper work § Asked ECFMG to provided you with the tracking number once the documents have been sent § Since Documents go to the medical school you as a graduate should have the phone number handy. Through recipients’ signature (viewed on-line), I was able to talk to the person that received the ECFMG packet to tell me what the next steps were. § Ask for the Date and “ Numero de oficio” to follow the process § All documents go to “Administracion Escolar” the office where they verify documents. It will take 30 to 40 working days ( in other word 2 months) to get this process done. I called admon. escolar then and still waited another week for my documents to be verified. § After Admon Escolar they go to the “Oficina de la Abogada General” this takes 10 working days ( 2 weeks). Called this office and waited an additional 2 days ( they were very cordial and nice!) § In this office, I told them to hold my documents since I would use my fed-ex account. § I then schedule the fed- ex pickup to there office (you will be charged an additional 4 dollars for this service), they missed the pick-up as documents were not ready. § Person in charged was very apologetic so then I rescheduled the pickup for the next day but they did not have my personal account number handy so the pickup person did not take the packet. (My fault!) § Called a week later and luckily they still had my documents. I then provided my account number and scheduled a new pick up. § I called them again and asked for the tracking number in Spanish “ numero de guia” § I was able to track my packet, I am now sure my documents have been received by the ECFMG. § I know have to wait a couple of weeks for this to be uploaded to oasis but I now have peace of mind. From start to finish time 5/10/07 to 9/26/07. Hope you can benefit from this information. Take care Confe

Hello Everybody, Glo Md: UNiversity of Arizona is a good choice. Good luck to all those who are prepping for the Steps. Is hard but not impossible. If you decide for Spain. Well i hear from sources and a friend that is not a bad idea.
