Hi Hector, itīs nice that you appear here, this is the exact site for you to be helped. You must check the following official websites: www.ecfmg.org www.usmle.org Itīs a real advantage that you have the permanent residency in USA. In my opinion you can be a candidate to do your residency in USA if your university is listed in IMED or something like that, if itīs listed then you can do it, i think itīs the only thing can be an obstacle to be eligible for you, as far as i know your case. Check these websites and you will get all the information you need to know to start this way to finally be ECFMG certified and do your residency in the USA. All of us are trying to do the same thing and we are mexican, so everybody here can help you to get it together. Why do you say you think you are NOT eligible? why? what did you hear or what? Yes, you need to improve your english but it will be easier and faster because you are in the USA. hope this helps Hector. If you have other questions, feel free to do them.

I only know that your medical school/university must be in that list of universities (IMED). If not, i think you are not eligible to be ECFMG certified. To be sure about it: well, that list is official, must be for sure but maybe you can e-mail them and ask them directly if your university is ok or not?. Letīs wait for the opinion of the others.

About what other things you can do. You need to be ECFMG certified to work as a general physician or to do a residency and work like a resident. I donīt know other things or ways to work in a related area.

Chema Eres un descarado!!!!!!!! How dare you say that 92 is not good enough!!!!!!!!!! Listen focus on the surgery program and don't change your mind!!! Changing your mind can even hurt your chances of getting into any program and any residency!! Wait for any interview and also if you did a rotation in the U.S. try to summit that as part of your Resume. Also if you can get any letter from a doctor from that program it will be great too. For the interview dress nicely a nice suit will be great. Polish those shoes nicely!!! Lorena buy a nice suit and also a pair of nice shoes. Walk in there with your shoulders back and chin up. Show confidence!!! Smile and always and always greet anyone you see there. Anyone!!!! janitor or who ever you cross paths with. And most important!!!!!RESEARCH the program that you are going to be interview by. Find out who is in charge and find out if they have published anything!!! Find out as much as possible about the program. Rotation hours, everything!!! Find out what sports or hobbies does the program director have. Maintain eye contact the whole time you are being interview. Do not use an obnoxius perfume!!!! be there early!!!!!!!!! Be ready to answer this question. WHY DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD CHOOSE YOU TO OUR PROGRAM? Remember that some applicants may have better qualifications then you(letters from a good school and surgey program in the U.S., research published, high step scores, etc.) but you can still land the position if you answer appropiately!!! So DR. Jose(chema) why do you think you are qualify to be in our surgery program? Dr. Lorena why should we choose you for our program? And is your husband moving in to this area with you? Practice your interview!!! Video tape yourselves!!!!!!!!!!But research the program you are being interview for!!!! The clinical skills exam iti is very important that you always address the patient by their first name, wash your hands before you touch them, use the sheet to cover them, do not worry if you mess up, remember the patient could be drunk too, practice and practice right, do not worry about writing 5 diagnosis down. Only 3 if does all you can get but make sure you do write a clear and consice medical interview. Treat the patient right!!! he or She will be correcting more then 2/3 of the test!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK ON THE INTERVIEWS!!!!!!!!! HAVE FAITH IN YOUR SELVES!!!

, en ese caso sí soy descarado. . The thing is that you always expect to get a very high score, but i think maybe they will be enough.

SilatK thanks for the tips y las porras!! , it feels good to know we have support here and i will do my best, i will try to enjoy the interviews as much as i can instead of being nervous. Chema: my rotation is going pretty well. This week i will rotate to another area of the psychiatric hospital and so on every week. Everybody is really nice. Doctors are friendly and helpful and i really like my patients, although i would not be a psychiatrist , i am enjoying the atmosphere and taking advantage of being "interna" again to ask a lot of questions Congratulations on your second interview...see?? you will get more! I dont know exactly how they are, but be prepared to answer the same type of questions they would in person - be ready to explain why you got this or that score (usually the lowest score in medical school) and why you withdrew from residency, etc. AS silatK says , lets practice just like we did for CS. Keep in touch guys,

It looks like unclear that info: "Data not currently available", but itīs not a denial. My main advice is trust George, he graduated from the same school and he is already ECFMG certified (passed step 1, 2CK, 2CS), so if you are from the same school, you are completely eligible (just like him). Good News!, huh? I would say that if you still have some doubts about your school and IMED and that stuff, e-mail George and he can tell you about it, because maybe he had the same troubles about it at the beginning.

Hi Hector, Welcome to the forum and mexican thread. I think you got good news, if ECFMG has that information there, although not a lot but IT IS listed, then your school is eligible! . Dont get confused with this " Foreign (Non-National) Students Eligible No" because at first i did, i think what it means it is that your school dont accept foreign students. If still you are not 100% convinced , call ECFMG or write them an email (they take aprox. 3 days to reply to an email) and ask them, they are usually very helpful. George comes from the same university and got so far with his tests , etc so it should not be any different in your case... so WELCOME to the ecfmg/usmle world!! Chema: i read in another forum the experience of a phone interview, be ready to give your opinions about euthanasia , or end of life support! and i imagine they may probably ask about other controversial topics . GL! Eturan: my interview invites (5) and also rejections (5), i got them by email, they also sent a copy to ERAS (messages). Good luck in your interviews.
