The band 3 protein is an anion transporter that allows bicarbonate (HCO-3) to cross the membrane in exchange for Cl-. This increases the amount of CO2 the blood can deliver to the lungs. If it is absent, less bicarbonate will be transported out of RBCs, PH decreases. So b. Is it right?
