seems like we're forming a small community here of the prospective exam takers in Chicago. but there's been no response so far...maybe people who are active in the Step 3 forum can help - they would be the ones who have completed the ECFMG certification process in its entirety, so they would know.

maybe we can try putting up a post in the Step 3 forum for this?

what does everybody have to say?

regards

hey guys,
I took my exam in chicago a week ago. The proctors are really nice and friendly. They ll make it an experience to remember. Before the exam they try their level best to relieve the tension.
SPs are great. U just need to be polite and humble with 'em and they ll give all the info u need. Most of them would give some hx themselves but sometimes u need to ask very specific questions especially regarding family hx.(like HTN/DM/heart problem etc). There is no problem in understanding their accent.I wud say, be confident and treat them as u would like some doc to treat u or ur family member and everything will be fine.
Regarding prepn and hx taking /PE I wont talk much coz I dont ve my result yet. For that read others' experiences especially those who ve already passed this test coz that wud help a lot.
If u r looking fr hotels in chicago, there r a lot of 'em near the center. I stayed at marriott o'hare. Its just 0.02 miles (2 mins walking distance) frm the center.U can check usmle website and they offer examinee discount too. Then there is holiday inn and a few others too(dont remember the names)..
if u ve any specific questions, i wud be happy to answer.
all the best to all of u!

hi drshar,
i took it in the morning session. U ve to be there at 7.30 A.M. but they start at 8.30 with orientation and the real exam starts at 9.15. After 5 cases there is a break fr half an hour and after the 9th case, there is a break fr 15 mins. Exam is usually over by 3.30 P.M.
I dint get any phone case but be prepared coz u never know.
As far as my exam, i cant say how it went coz i ve made a lot of mistakes. Some of them are still haunting me and as each n every day goes by, it reminds me of something or the other..i m pretty sure that i did fine in 6-7 cases, fairly well in 2-3 cases and O.K in 1 case and totally screwed up 1 case ... so, I m keeping my fingers crossed. .

good luck!
