Generally we do. But if patient laying down in pain or you read on the door that he/she has wrist pain... then it is up to you;0) If patient in a lot of pain, you can touch his shoulder slightly when saying "hello" ( do not touch anything else instead;0) If patient is angry, pacing around you can drop handshaking because you can find yourself in position that you chasing patient's hand to shake it;0)
