Is the table as following :<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Actual depr Not actual depr Diag depress 102 48 Diag not deprs 87 63 king... frm what u ahv written is this the table? if yes.. thn TN= 63 N FP = 48 ..... this means tha specificity will be = 63/63+48 =63/111. incase the table interprated is wrong plz correct me... thank u fpr replying... neo

hey neo, ur interpretation is wrong! pause for a moment! and revise the definition again for true and false neg's and pos's here, TN = 63 ; FP= 87 (diagnostic test is giving wrong results cause there is no depresssion) TP = 102 and FN = 48 try to assess one column at a time ,taking reference from the actual presence or absence of the disease and then decide whether the result is true or false! BE CAREFUL!

a positive dexamethasone suppression test is seen in Depressive states. what does a positive DST mean? ...That on administration of dexamethasone there is NO depression/suppression of cortisol secretion, hence positive for an abnormal state right?? why does this Q hold the opp to be true? i looked this Q up from kaplan LN.....for some reason it takes a 'depressed' DST result to be a True Positive! additionally, the 'non-depressed' DST result is calculated as a True Negative! can anyone explain or cross check this? (pg 31 kaplan 2004)
