In kaplan pediatrics, they say that Those who have received BCG & test positive on PPD should be treated with 9 months of INH prophylaxis.

I think if one receceived BCG vaccine, the positive PPD test is normal so there is no need for INH . Am i wrong ?

yes..u are wrong. the problem is that with BCG u never know is pt got infection or not, the test is positive. Therefore, treat anyone +PPD that is: recent converter (less than 2 yrs), anyone with immune deffic, anyove < 35 yoa.

In US these are the reccomendations and BCG status has no bearing on it.

BCG can make PPD positive but less than 10 mm so when it becomes more than 10mm in immunocompetent individual you should start 9 months of INH
