Any ways its the series of repeating AGCT bases which is trascribed onto mRNA and then Translated by tRNA ;which actually defines why its triplet cause matching site on tRNA is always 3 bases although last one can wobble. Its continous(no commas) non Overlapping and fixed (same 3 bases always same amino acid.) One set of 3 is the start (fixed) and there are 3 sets which are stop codons. You change any one of 3 you get a new code i.e. new amino acids might even get a stop set smiling face. you take or add one base and man eveything shifted cause there could never be a set of 2 or 4 so all the sets down the line are read differently now.
