child is competent so it is irrelevant.....

Now there r some exception to this.....

1)a child is living alone & can care off him/herself..

2)Child is in military service

3)either pregnant or having child

4)Married child..

These above exception have there own decision making ablities....so u shud know abt this during Rx....

SDK, all your options are correct exceptions from the rule 'child is not competent' except #3.

The child cannot give permission. A child's refusal of tretment is irrelevant.

Children younger than 18 are minors and are legally incompetent.

Exceptions are EMANCIPATED MINORS such as the examples given by SDK except pregnancy.

rules are slightly different for each state

For example, in Texas a child older than 13 can refuse examination and treatment for drug addiction, dependency, or use. Unmarried pregnant girl under 18 makes own desicions regarding her pregnancy/abortion, but needs a parental concent is required for problems not related to her pregnancy. Any child under 18 makes own desicions regarding contagious reportable diseases (i.e. gonorrhea)
