HI THERE, I'VE USE THE FORUM SEVERAL TIMES TO FIND USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT THE TEST,SO THANKS TO ALL YOU GUYS! MY QUESTION TODAY IS WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO STUDY ON MY LAST 3 WEEKS SINCE I'VE NOTICED THAT SOME OF THE INFORMATION IS ENDLESS, I'M GETTING TIRED, AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S BETTER JUST TO DO QUESTIONS OR KEEP READING NOTES (I USED KAPLAN NOTES, AND CURRENTLY READING BOARDS AND WARDS). MY STATS: KAPLAN QBOOK: HIGH 70'S -80S, UW: 66% TIMED, MIXED UNUSED QUESTIONS(ONLY DONE WITH 55% OF IT) . KAPLAN QBANK: 79% NBME 1: 590 HOPE TO GET SOME FEEDBACK ABOUT TEST PREP AND WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY TEST BEST REGARDS! AJ

Hi there... I took my exam on July 1 AJ. And like you, I didn't know how to anticipate the exam back then. Your scores are great... and from a correlation, you'll get a high mark. However, you would need to focus on doing questions for the next 3 weeks, go back to ur UW notes... read some of your qbook stuff and Kaplan simulated exams... train yourself to read as many questions as you can... this will help you get thru the long ones during the exam. Step2, unlike Step1 is a mgt/practical exam, so rather than seeing "What's this" questions, you'll get more of "What's next" or "What's the most likely Dx?" Most of the questions are cases... if I remember them right. Most of the LONG ones contain information totally irrelevant to the case... so you would need to know how to filter out the not-so-useful information. Looking back, if they were to give the answer, the question fits right with the case. If you've done UW I'm sure you know what I mean. There will be Step1 questions, but more like short questions which come as "breaks" from your long clinical cases. If you're done with Step1, reviewing for it would be redundant, if you have time you can go back and skim thru Patho and Pharma of FA for Step1 I read too fast during the exam, fearing I won't have enough time left. But apparently, I had about 10-15 mins extra...so I don't really know but I might have missed some important points while reading too fast and did bad! (Well, I hope and pray this isn't the case, but I'm considering it) so please don't rush too much. Time would be enough... use your breaks, and maximize them, and relax... just do ur best!! Email me at trishue@yahoo.com if you have anymore questions...

Thanks a lot for your feedback Trishue! I already took Step 1 so I agree with you that going back to it would be too much (and I don't have the stamina neither!) Right now I'm just doing UW, reviewing answers and checking tables @ Boards and Wards. Best of lucks with your results, I'm sure you will get a great score! AJ

AN UPDATE! JUST DID KAPLAN SIMULATED A FEW HOURS AGO: 75% , I'M NOT ANGRY BUT WAS EXPECTING A BETTER SCORE. DOES IT CORRELATE WITH THE ACTUAL TEST OR NBME IS A MORE RELIABLE TOOL? (MY SCORE FOR NBME 1 WAS 590) THANKS AJ
