in blueprints clinical cases its given that in hyperthyroid emergency iv hydrocortison should be given to prevent peripheral conversion of t4 to t3 but i vent read this anywhere else neither in cmdt nor in washington manual.in cmdt its given that ipodate does the same job ,can anyone crosscheck it.

i had never seen nothing about hydrocortisone in thyroid storm , no idea about it

that is correct, but i can't explain the mechanism.

Inhibition of peripheral conversion of T4 to T3

- propylthiouracil, ipodate, propanolol, and corticosteroids have this effect
