Dear BBB,

I know you are a busy person but can you please answer a few of my questions to allay my anxiety? Well I need to know what are the pros and cons of applying early with only a score of 82 on step 1 vs applying 2-3 weeks later with both step1 and step2 scores? Also do you think I should abe applying both for IM and Pediatrics, since I have a poor score. But I definately would prefer Pediatrics.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

Somehow, I thought that family time on a holiday weekend was time that I didn't need to check the messages here.wink

I will give the same advice that I give to everyone. Apply as soon as you can. Get your application to a residency program to start to review - PD's know that you take the scores at different times - they know to check back and see if your other score has arrived.

I can't advise you on which program you are applying to - that's your decision. If you prefer Peds, apply for Peds.confused

Good luck

I can't answer thatshaking head It's going to depend on the whole application package. If I said that it would affect it, would you just stop? What would you do different? It's not just the scores, the paper, it's how well YOU react, you interview, you make yourself fit with the program that you want to join. Your scores might affect the outcome, but I certainly don't know how they might. You have an 82, not a 72.

I know a resident (Syria) from several years ago, scored 77/76 and he prematched in my IM program, needed a visa, got that, and also became a Chief Medical Resident, and matched in a Cardiology fellowshipnod

Good luck

If the ACLS is completed in the USA by the American Heart Association. If it's done overseas, not really. (Something to do with it being standardized in the USA - I don't know why.....)
