am 32 at the moment, finishing up my PhD in Neuroscience in Germany by the end of this year.Graduated in 2000,did internship in my home country for a year and them moved to the US-california,doing only basic neuroscience research.
Things have changed as I am not so happy with science(as I thought I would be) and am appearing for step 1 and 2 as well as CS (have been studiing quite a lot for the past year or two) by the end of this year-did not schedule yet.
Reading a lot of US residency related information I am a little worried:I have no clinical experience -not in tbe US or anywhere else, since my internship year, although I have been updating my knowledge in medicine regularely-still,I haven;t seen a patient for a long time...
Will I be able to apply for a Neurology or Psychiatry residency position(I will try and score high) with this lack of clinical exp?
I do have letters of reccomendation but only from research(US scientists, plus my previous boss in Cali is also a physician-neurologist who works with patients, although I had no contact with them through the course of my work).
What would help me?I am an older grad,too....And that is a big problem I would say. http://residencyandfellowship.com/ipw-web/bulleti...">
Also,I do not have a very good credit history in America-will they check that too?
I should also mention that I have a green card.
Please,BBB,you know better and you really help a lot through this forum, advise me on this as I am very insecure about wether I would be able to get any kind of a residency position anywhere in America?
Thanks and very best of luck to all of you ....
