ok, just found out that a broad sling support for 3 weeks is all that is required for clavical # usually caused by falling outstretched hand in children. i confused with figure of 8 bandage .

i´m sorry , but if someone could help me, i would appreciate it very much. I´ve read that a sling is the treatment but I´ve read also that the treatment is a figure of 8 device, so I don´t know really which is the treatment of choice and why and in which type of patients. Please answer !

I think sling is the same as fisgure 8 device. I had clavicle fracture myself before so I guess...

treatment depends on age and the level of the fracture. if new born. no treatment is needed. heals on its own. the following explanation is from UW. in older children, if fracture is located at; distal third, it is usually unstable, so it may require open reduction with internal fixation: cosmetically, the result are not good but the result are acceptable proximal and middle third injurie can be treated with close reduction with figure 8 brace or sling for 1 or 2 weeks hope this help. if the fracture is displaced...it might cause vascular injury to the subclavians...so surgery might be better
