thanks to all those in the support group and especially those in the chat group (josh, loreal, iota, hamidi and so many others this forum helped me through my preparation especially in the comparison of various scores to boost my confidence here is my prep details for the benefit of people who will be taking the exam in the near future study time: a little over 4 months i started with reading the theory from kap notes over 1 and half month; then i did USMLE world(untimed, tutor mode, subject wise) over the next one month scoring 67%; i then did pretest (not a very useful source) questions to consolidate my theory , followed by q book (84%); then did kaplan q bank (took a 1 month subscription-scored 81%) along with revising my theory and finally ran through a revision of USMLE world and the theory; few days before the exam i took a simulated test (kaplan simulated cd- 81%) in the last 5 days, i went quickly through USMLEworld again and the theory; on the last day i did a few questions from NMS CD for getting some confidence of solving questions; i stopped studying early that day and just relaxed; on the day of the exam, i divided the breaks as 5 minutes after the first, second and third blocks; then 10 minutes after the 4th block, 10 minutes after the sixth block and 10 minutes after the 7th block; exam is like USMLE world questions; they are not all that straightforward questions; after the fourth block i was just clicking at random and moving on; i don't know what more to write; well guys all the best!

Congratulations on your great score! I read your study strategy and was wondering if Kaplan Q bank is really necessary b'coz I am doing USMLEWORLD and I don't think I'll have the time to do Kaplan qbank. Will UW be enough for the exam?

hi nizan, i don't know much about the usmle orientation cd version; mine was the standard one; no, i don't think tumor staging is important; the questions are based more on understanding concepts that cramming stuff like that; but i did read them just in case hi sweetsmiles, usmleworld is the best thing, so if you do that, it should be sufficient; kaplan q bank is not that great, but most people still do it just to get practice of doing more questions; if you don't have time for q bank then try to do q book, but everything differs person to person; some people do just one question source and score well; some people(like me) do a lot of questions to gain confidence; if your uw score is great, say already above 70 then you may do well with that only

Hi Gollum, Thanks for the feedback. It really helped. I was told that UW surgery questions are too picky but in the actual exam, surgery ques are more straightforward n easier. Is it true?

Hi I took my step 1 today and I just have 2 months for step 2!I am going to start for step 2 on Tuesday after a short break, but I don’t have any idea about Step 2 materials <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> What is your suggestion about references should I study? Thanks

Gollum05, hearty congratulations on your perfect score. I was out of touch with the forum for sometime. Its soooo good to know that you took the exam on time and passed with flying colors. I am draging my date. Have taken CS in the meantime, about 4 weeks ago. But it doesn't compare to what you have acheived. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Hi Gollum, perfect score, congrats! I'm about to take the test myself in 2 weeks, and I'm scoring 66 on UW, 80's on qbook n 570 on NBME. I took Kaplan simulated yesterday with a 75%, so I'll like to know what to expect from it, since honestly I was expecting a better score on this one. I'll be happy to get your feedback and to listen your advice for this last two weeks. Best Regards AJ
