hi, i get always confused between these two....can anyone explain to me with an each example?? thanks.

You mean as defense mechanisms right? cause dissociation is also another DSM 4 catagory, anyway,

Dissociating is detaching yourself from the experience causing the emotional discomfort, like talking about a traumatic experience with no emotions...

Displacing is when you direct your feelings toward another person who isnt responsible for your emotional discomfort in anyway, like when your boss makes you angry you go and beat your wife...

You don't necessarily have to beat the wife , you coud even shout at her, and it would still be displacement... (Just kidding, in a way...)
