The majority of cellular proteins and RNA are synthesized throughout the cell cycle and are only interrupted briefly during M phase. Synthesis of which of the following proteins occurs predominantly in S phase of the cell cycle?
A) Cyclins
B) DNases
C) Histones
D) RNA polymerases
E) snRNPs (small nuclear ribonucleoproteins)
F) Tubulins

H2A,H2B,H3,H4;H1

  #8

and what about the other proteins. in which cycle they are synthesized.?

Histones are proteins with great content of base aminoacids (arginine, leucine). They are positively charged in order to stabilize DNA. There are five types of histones: H1,H2A,H2B,H3,H4. Dimers of H2A, H2B, H3 and H4 participate in nucleosom formation. H1 doesn't participate in nucleosom formation, but with nucleosom it forms chromatosom. Then chromatosomes further spiralize and with help of non-histonic proteins, we get chromosomes.

Other proteins are synthetized in G1 fase of the cell cycle.

You're welcome

  #12

one correction histone contain basic protein having amino acids predomintly Arginine and lysine .wink

  #13

ya u re right, arginine and lysine re the basic amino acids and they re rich in histones

making the histones positively charged whereas the dna is ngatively charged and hence the two become bound...grin

  #14

oops i meant to say, histone is rich in lysine and arginine

  #15

SO ,, proteins synthesis in cell cycle

G1 PHASE-- all proteins are synthesize

S PHASE- histones predominates

M PHASE- interuption in this phase..

To add to the information Cdk2-cyclinD and Cdk2-cyclinE -G1

Cdk1-cyclinA and Cdk1-cyclin -G2

  #17

and some more cyclind kinase is the enzyme which activates cyclin d which inhibits the Rb gene. and hence the cycle can go from the g1 to s phase, and p53 is the gene which inhibits cyclin d . hence prevents cell from going from g1 to s phase

hence Rb and p-53 re the tsg which regulate the cell cycle, basically they give the cell time to detect some mutation which has occuredgrin

well its all dr. goljan

thanks to him the great guru....

Are RNA polymerase and DNase synthesized in G1 phase?

  #21

they are synthesised through out.

add some more info
taxanes and vica alkaloids act on m phase.
Podophyllotoxins: Etoposide and Tenisopide act on G2
Anti metabolites act on s phase
steroids on g 1 Phase
alkylatingeg cyclophosphamide, antibiotics ,nitrosureas act on all phases
