What is the difference b/n isometric contraction & isotonic contraction of a ventricle?

  #2

isometric contraction occurs when the muscle is'nt shortening ,however it's tension increases which is reflected by an increase in intraventricular pressure untill it exceeds the pressure in the aorta; when the semilunar valves open, active ahorteining of rthe muscle takes place while tension remains more or less the same, charecterized as isotonic!

moreover maximum energy expenditure occurs during isometric contractrion!
