Kaplan Qbank USMLE

hello everyone: here i am writing my experience with step1. i have just checked oasis; and i did get the red message saying that i have passed. that is a huge relief both for me as well as my family. just to give you what i have done in the past vs now. in the beginning i studies kaplan and then switched to high yield books, but after reading so many posts here; i made up my mind to stick with kaplan. and i did. i studied for 5 month straight. i put a small desk in my room by the window; and i would study evrytime i get time; this was my schdule; go to gym at 1 am; sleep by 3 am; get up 10 am; and i would hit books untill 11 pm; this is what i did for the 5 months; towards the end i studied FA 2004; even though i bought step up to go through; but never did go over it; i was studying with priority wise KAPLAN>FA>GOLJAN.i am really proud of having to pass step 1; as soon as i gave step 1 i did feel a lot better; and the next week; i went and bought books for step2; and i already studied some for step2. anyway, guys, what i would recommened everyone is to study kaplan notes, do q bank, goljan audio and notes; and finally hit with FA. i think everyone is capable of passing this exam; you just have to sit on a chair and try to calm down. don't think about negative experiences. i have read several post from this website; one person name meg did really hit me; she really gave me confidence. every single day when i start studying, i would look through the window; and i would ask myself, why am i going through such pain. then i would say to myself; its not about you; it about what you give back to the world. people such as friends, family and stranger that you saved a life will alwys remeber you; what obstacle you had to go through. before, i realize i was having some confilcts with my family; about marriage; i told my self i am not going to marry anyone until i get through this exam. so here i am. i am sure everyone who is from india, goes thru the same stuff esp if they were brought up with here with eastern cultures. well, friends i thank you all and wish good luck and don't let this exam stop you. after all, you have passed all the exams starting from kindergarten to XII class. to college and now USMLE; so why let only one exam stop you from changing your profession. don't let that happen. before you start studying, make sure what you are studying are good and new sources; if anyone has any questions, let me know, i will gladly answer their question..........thanks

Congrats on being done and passing! I am sure this is a huge load off of your shoulders! Best of luck with step 2. I hear that in many ways, it's easier than step1 because it's more clinical.

Anyway, I took the exam a few weeks ago myself and was curious when you had taken it so I can better guesstimate when I can expect my own scores. ;-) Also, was your exam in the old prometric format or FRED.

Thanks.

Like what aspect of the preparation I should stress on?

What should I revise more?

Because as everyone knows one cannot remember each and every line in book, so please help me plan

I am getting so confused and freaking out sad<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

To nephron:
thanks. i know how its like when you get very close to the exam. you should give the last two weeks for first aid;and the other two weeks either go over each and every q bank or review the materials that YOU THINK IS either confusing or if you forgot something. dont try to change books or anything; if you were doing kaplan, goljan notes and FA; give the last two weeks for FA; and the rest either to goljan audio or kaplan books review. what i did was the last two weeks did FA, one week for HIGH yield goljan notes, and the rest of the time; i did quick review from kaplan esp immuno, Anatomy, stuff that you don't feel comfortable with. esp with immuno, kaplan got some good notes in the margin. like towards the end i felt like i was forgetting immuno; so went over the notes that are in the margin; to sumarize: last two weeks FA; one week goljan high yield; one week review of kaplan notes or q bank. i found the goljan high yield to be very imp; make sure you read those; b/c its got very good stuff. hope i helped you
thanks

hello MAA

thanks a lot for replying

you sure lifted my spirits

about goljen high yield: i have done goljen audio once and studied path from kaplan notes and from GOLJEN REVIEW (350 PAGES BOOK), DO you think its still worth going through goljan high yield NOW , or its better to revise from what i have read already?

thank you for ur support

hi nephron:
yeah i think the HY goljan is really good. i think there are 100 pgs or so. it gives you very high yield stuff. i did goljan audio+made my notes while listening to it; plus i did HY notes and there are lots of imp stuff that are not in the audio; if you skim thru, im sure you will find some imp stuff. just skim thru; i think it takes one week to go thru. 20pgs/day.
good luck
