Hi guys,

i am new here and i need to clear a few points regarding application process.i am a graduate of 2001 from pakistan and now i am thinking about taking step 1 on nov 1st.2005. I will be applying online and i understand there are two parts, online part and other one that we have to mail. What are the documents that we have to mail....one is probably the medical diploma (M.B.B.S degree notarized) with photographs, whatelse..i heard there are a few forms that we have to mail too....form 183...and a few others which give our permission to the med school to release our information to ecfmg people...and besides that, do i have to send my final transcripts too? i am not sure about that....can Anyone who recently got their application approved help me with the complete list of documents or forms to be sent (orignal or photocopy).

i would really appreciate your help...

my schedule is that i am going to take step 1 on nov 1 or 15 , step 2 may 1, step 2 cs july 1....u think i should be in time for match....i would appreciate any input...

Thankyou

Hi,

I too am from Pakistan (Graduate of SMC, Karachi). Got my application approved a couple of months ago.

No you don't need to send your medical school transcripts in mail. ECFMG will get those from your medical school itself.

Just be sure to fill out the 3 forms which you will download from the ECFMG site, including the form 183.

So you need to send the notarized form 183, and the other two forms, and your medical school degree ( photocopy) along with 2 recent photographs in mail.

Be sure to keep a photocopy of your notarized form 183 with you for your records.

All the best

Laila

heres anotherone.....in the part regarding clinical clerkship...do we have to enter all the wards attended(rotations) during the last 3 yrs which were compulsory......or is this regarding nay voluntary optional internship that one may have done in pakistan ?

Hi Sarika,

Regarding your question about clinical clerkship. Yes we have to enter all the clinical rotations we did during our last 3 years. I had taken a record of this from my college in karachi as I had forgotton the dates of those rotations.

As for the name thing. My understanding is that the name on your MBBS degree and your government issued photo identification (your driving licence for example)should be the same. However since you have that letter from your med college registrar that both names are yours so I think that you should not have any problem if you send that cert. along but I suggest you do some saearch of the bulletin of information or call up ECFMG to find out first hand from them.

All the best

Laila
