hi
i am an IMG from india...

i've heard that some ppl from my coll dont go for usmle straight away...
( as there is always a risk of rejection of visas..)

instead they clear GRE.. then do some course in public health in US for abt an year or two..
and meanwhile they clear their steps ..
they say its much safer this way..
are the chances of visa rejection actually less this way??

does anyone know of any IMGs doin the same...

does anyone have any idea as to the advantages and disadvantages of this pathway...?

Disadvantage is that you will be a couple of years behind your colleagues when they apply straight from medical school.

Good luck

I know it is too late but this is the first time I see this topic.

I have graduated already but didn't yet take any of my steps, and this is the first time I hear about such an alternative.. Can anyone please put some lights on it for me (even with a link for me to check), and I will be very grateful..

And BBB, does that mean that there is no disadvantage in my case to go this way??

Thanks a lot.

There's also the opportunity to do a "Fifth Pathway" program. More info at www.ecfmg.org
