hey used to be doc!!
welcome to diary land!!...i haven't heard of the "crash course" anatomy...if it comes recommended then continue using it..if not,i would suggest using a good review book like high yield(which i intend on using) for anatomy...and using first aid to review and supplement....one obviously cannot remember stuff right after the first read....and it takes time to actually get used to studying long hours and retaining things...but it will all work out fine...so no worries!...good luck!

Well, Today..I'm studying about shoulder joint and make my own diagram. I'm glad that at least it can help me momorize easily. If anybody want to see, I can send you guys.

Welcome to diary world.
I just want to give you quick dvice here.Don't spend too much time on anatomy.And i the start of your preperaation try to be consistent.Work hard.Its not easy.I kinda repaying for my mistakes to take it easy.You need to work hard atleast 8-10 hrs a day.It will not only help you finish it fast but aso will keep you dedicated.I hope you understand what i mean.Becasue basic mantra is to keep yourself motivated,dedicated,working hard consistently all the time.Don't waste anytime till you finish it.If you can do it,then you wll surely have nice success.Or you may get stuck like me.I am trying to finsih this exam as soon as possible.Hopefully i will wrte it by the end of this month or first week of july.Lets hope for the best.I will surely help you after that by my experience with exam.

Hey sorry i wrote the message in hurry.
Forgot to tell you about anatomy.
I dont know about the boOk you mentioned.But i ill say high yield will be enough.If you go through peopel's exam experience,you will find out that anatomy is not very high yield,but ofcourse one can't neglect it.Because there are many forms of exam.
So i guess do high yield & FA .ALso see your performance on qbank.If you do well in anatomy questions,then dont worry much.

Well, I know that 3 months is short but I will try my best... if I can't do in time, I will post pone.
Today, I feel more comfortable with my study. After repeated reading for second time for some topic, I realize that I can do a practice easier!! Thanks for support me. I'm still in Anatomy studying and hope to finish soon and go on.

Well, I don't have "high yield gross anatomy" that was recommended from people here yet. I'm studying from " Crash course" Anatomy of Dykes. I graduated from med.school for 8 yrs now that meant 13 yrs apart from Anatomy class therefore I have to study from scratch!! If you are now in medical school or just finished, please take your advantage from fresh knowledge!! I started with upper extremities and now moving to the thorax. Do you have any point suggested about the thorax or what are you studying right now?

Hi used2Bdoc! Good to read ur diary. I understand ur situation because mine is pretty similar. I am an IMG who graduated 7 yrs back...so I know the feeling. I came to the US because I got married and my husband is here. For me this has been an uphill journey trying to get thru USMLE.
I took Step 1 last yr and failed. The shock and disappointment was so severe that I almost gave up trying. Along with it I had other issues that prevented me to get back on track. Finally I have started again. I have been studying seriously from May. I am planning to take the exam in Aug/ Sept depending on how I stand. With my track record I cannot afford to miss anymore. I just have to make it happen.
If you ask me what went wrong last time, I would say it was lack of preparation. I did not realize how unprepared I was. I did not do Kaplan, I did not do NBME, I did not take any diganostic tests, I had not even heard of Goljan, I did not know this forum existed. I had no way of knowing what I was supposed to know. I discovered all this in the weeks following my results.
This time I am more focussed. I have Kaplan notes from a friend. I am studying those as my base. I did HY and BRS last time. They were good but people advise against using too many books. So this time I am concentrating on using only Kaplan notes. For Patho I am using Goljan audio, notes. He is amazing. try to get hold of those if you can. And I just got my new FA. Hopefully this will help. I am revising each subject rapidly so that I can start taking some tests to see where I stand and where I need to emphasize. I am also registered with Kaplan qbank which lets you do questions online.
I have been posting my progress on this website everyday, only with the hope that it will keep me focussed. People are very helpful and encouraging over here. So hang in there. There are a lot of people just like you. If we are there for each other I am sure we will all get thru this.

Hi drworm, Thanks a lot for giving me your experience. It's really helpful. So now you don't use high yield anymore? I just order Goljan audio and note by Ebay yesterday that I hope it will come soon. I'm new here.... can I ask you some stupid question, what is FA? And about Kaplan Qbank, I'm thinking of apply for that too...but I wonder when should I start Qbank? Should it be after I finish review all topics or just start now? Are the questions divided in to subject or mix everything? Please tell me because I want to use 3 month course valuably.
I agree with you guys that diary keep us focus to studying more. I wake up earlier to check my diary and plan for studying. Yesterday, I finish anatomy of Thorax and did some test from "pretest" and "clinical vignette" that I satisfied myself. Today, I will go on with The Abdomen.

Hi guys! used2Bdoc FA is first aid for USMLE step 1. It is a must. Excellent way to memorize vital points. Qbank is a a great way to assess yourself. I registered for 3 months in June. I'm hoping to cover most of it before I take my exams. BUt I would suggest to finish your first reading before you register so that you are in better shape to answer questions. Maybe reserve it for the 3 months before your exam.

Thanks guys for joining. Oh..FA is first Aid.. I have it already and I agree with some person here that it's useful for reviewing after you know the details already. Shalu, What part are you studying now in Anatomy?
Yesterday, I finished "the Abdomen" and again found that I was not satisfied for my test on that part from "pretest". My husband bought HY for me last evening that I reviewed it last night but not finished yet. Today I plan to repeat reading and pay more attention for vessels supply and lymphatic drainage. I wanna tell myself that Go Go Go to Goal!!

 Yesterday, no progression happened!! I couldn't concentrate for it. I tried to study in HY.. so many things to memorize...so tired. Today is weekened, it will be harder for studying. I hope I would finish some pages.

:: The Second Week ::
I will summarize my work of last week! It was quite slow progression. I spent time for studying each part of Anatomy clumsily.
- Monday: Upper Extremities
- Tuesday: Upper Extremities
- Wednesday: Thorax
- Thursday: Abdomen
- Friday: Abdomen
- Saturday: no studying, shop around :P
- Sunday: Genitourinary
I do my MCQ from "pretest" now. I like "pretest" because I can check up
my knowledge right after finishing each topic. I also have QBook but I
didn't use it yet. I will use QBook and apply for QBank after I review
all topics for a while and have enough thing in my head to test myself.
OK.. everyone, Weekday is starting..... time to come back for your USMLE!!

Hi Guys, Yesterday for me went well with finishing my daily studying goal. I read HY for Perineum, Pelvic and Lower Extremities and done with some pratice test from pretest. Today, I plan to finish Head and Neck. Cross my finger!!
I also got Goljan Audio and lecture from Ebay yesterday. The lecture note part came in PDF file that it's not sharp enough but the audio is very good.

Yesterday, I satisfied myself for finishing "head and neck" and thus meaning I finished my gross Anatomy from high yield....but I think I need to repeat it again before doing Qbook and move to embryology and neuroanatomy.
Hey..Shalu, I'm interested in Kaplan note... How can I get it? Where did you get it from?
