Dear Friends,

i would like to thank everyone working on this site, god only knows where i would be with out ur help. i have a big problem, you see i want to plan for my USMELE exams and i want to be ready for the nearest match as soon as possible, my problem is that i am not sure how to plan everything. i want to plan my everything to that i get as many interviews as possible, while still giving my self enough time to study well for the usmle

1- i NEED at least 4 months of preprations for step 2 ck

2-i NEED at least 4 months for step 1

3- and i need at least 2 months for the step 2 cs

4 - i am an american IMG, and i was hoping i could get an externship of anything that can increase my chances of getting into a residency while i fly to the states to do my step 2 cs exam

how can i make a plan that fits all of these times, while still being able to sign up for the next match, will i be able to match in 2006?? if not will i be able to match for 2007? what do you guys think is the best way i can plan for this.

thank you in advance.

Amer

Unless you shorten your study times for the steps, I don't think you can apply for this match. For 2007 you have plenty of time. If you wanted to try for this year (2006) I would say take step I first and apply. I got most interviews with only my step I scoers. You should have step II by Feb 1 when they start to rank applicants. Many programs prefer you to be ECFMG certified before even interviewing you, though. So you might want to wait till next year to try, depending on how competitive a residency you want.
