Hello,

Question:

The notching of the ribs past rib 3 are caused by the internal thoracic arteries or internal mammaries? There is some confusion w/ me and my friends.

it is cause by intercostal arteries tht is derived from internal thoracic artery, i don't know about any internla mammary artery (maybe int. thoracic artery is aka in. mam. art) ,however there are distinct gp of nodes called internal mammry nodes!

Internal thoracic artery= internal mammary artery.
Intercostal arteries : - posterior intercostal arteris derived fr thoracic aorta
- anterior intercostal arteries derived fr internal thoracic arteries
according the position of the notching ribs , u can deduce the cause: artery, nodes, tumors.... metastasis and be careful with the osteoporosis
