sunburns can result in either first degree burn or second degree burns never 3rd degree.

if its a first degree burn and there is pain... NSAIDS

if no relief.. 1% hydrocortisone cream

Second degree burns... comes with blistering etc

consider topical antibiotics only if skin is broken to prevent infection.

Lots of fluids also help. chances are if were out in the sun long enough to have a burn u are probably dehydrated as well!!
