ns 11266 i found that steroids are indicated only when the lymphnodes are enlarged and causing breathing problems in pts with IM. Then u admit and give steroids..because of their anti-inflammatory effect. I didn't find that they are also good if pt has HA or TCP!!!

ayeshah_l ,I found that in Harrison.it says "Prednisone ....has been used for the prevention of airway obstruction in patients with severe tonsillar hypertrophy , for hemolytic anemia ,and for severe thrombocytopenia .Glucocorticoids have also been used in a few patients with severe malaise and fever and in patients with severe CNS or cardiac disease."

Does that mean that thrombocytopenia and hemolytic anemia in EBV infection is immune mediated?
