Hello everyone, the exam experiences posted on this forum by the members helped me a lot. I decided to post some of my experiences so that others may be benefitted. Hope this helps.Good luck! The topics that I was tested on included: Internal medicine CVS:Arrythmias ECG's shown: VT, MI, WPW CHF: Pathophysiology of systolic and diastolic heart failure Emergency medicine: treatment of AF, VT etc. Treatment of combined conditions: MI in an asthmatic etc (avoid beta blockers) MI*** Myopathies Lipids and treatment protocol, HTN (1st line drugs for old, black male/young white male), Vasculitis GIT: Pathophysiology of diarrhea, Pathology of hepatitis, Serum markers in hepatitis (HCV-RNA etc), Achalasia, gastritis CNS: types of hemorrhages (study the CT), Seizures Hemat-Onc: Lymphomas, anemias (different characteristics-most sensitive and most specific tests) Renal: Immupathology, transplant rejections, pathology of nephrotic and nephritic syndrome metabolic acidosis and alkalosis: alkalosis/acidosis, anion gap?, compensated/decompensated? good pasture's syndrome, wegener's granulomatosis, churg-strauss syndrome endocrine: addison's , cushings, DM, Ca/Pth Respiratory: Asthma treatment ***, COPD, Pulmonary embolism, organisms causing pneumonia Rheumatology***: SLE, Sjorens syndrome (diagnosis-lip biopsy), Polymyositis, polymyalgia rheumatica***, muscular dystrophy. I had a lot of questions on connective tissue disorders Preventive medicine :Screening tests*** (good in crush step 2) Dermatology***(pictures) Opthalmology: Kaplan and crush is enough ENT: Kaplan and Crush...more important in peds Psychiatry: side effects of drugs***, ADHD, OCD, Mood disorders Surgery and orthopedics: Trauma and obsrtuctive disorders are most important *** Orthopedic conditions in children: CHD, Slipped femoral epiphysis etc, # of hip joint, knee*** Gynaec and Obstetrics: all cancers, bleeding in pregnancy, hormonal disturbances, menstrual disturbances, Stein levinthal syndrome ***, screening tests for all cancers*** (none for ovarian-please check for the latest research development) Pediatrics: Immunizations, rashes, Kawasaki's disease, immunopathology***(Bruton's etc), congenital disorders and their causes (eg pregnant woman on phenytoin) Differential diagnosis for: obstructive conditions, dyspnea, headache, chest pain, abdominal pain, seizures, rash, joint pain, myopathies, dementia, pediatric psyc: autism vs MR, Knee pain (meniscal tear vs ACL tear), abdominal pain in a woman, bleeding in pregnancy, congenital disorders
