Hello Everybody, I am an IMG, currently permanent resident in Canada, trying to get a US residency. I already passed Step 1, registred this year for Step 2 CK and CS. But I just got a "hard hit" finding out that I might need to take the Canadian Evaluating Examination in order to get the Statement of Need from the Canadian authorities . The Statement of Need is a declaration issued by Health Canada in which they say that they are in shortage of the specialty I would like to persue in the US and that they need doctors specialized in that certain area. The Statement of Need is necessary for obtaining the J-1 visa. At least this is what I found out. And I am very suprised, because I figured that I do not need to pass a Canadian Exam in order to apply for a US residency. Please, if anybody knows more about this, I would be gratefull if you would reply to me. If anybody knows if this is true or not, if anybody knows about shortcuts or any new information about this you are welcome to repply. Optional question: I found out about a Kaplan free event that was held yesterday in Toronto about getting the visas for US. If anybody could provide me some notes about the meeting , it would mean a lot to me. thank you. All the best with your studies. kokuska1
