Hi all. I wanted to know if there were significant differences between the 2002 and 2005 editions of the Kaplan USMLE Step 1 Home Study Program. Also, can anybody comment on studying from the Home Study program versus the Kaplan Lecture notes? Your comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks, J

I don't recommend Kaplan USMLE Step 1 Home Study program. Why? 1. I don't like how the subjects are organised - by organ systems instead of by 7 basic subjects themselves. 2. It is too detailed and I'm sure, that these details will not be tested on the actual exam. 3. At the same time many key points are not even mentioned. 4. Writing style is dry and boring. 5. Very few illustrations. 6. Most of these illustrations of very bed quality. 7. No questions after chapters. 8. Very expensive - $ 449 (without Qbook) is really too much for book of this quality. Get Kaplan Lecture notes 2004 (7 books and Qbook, that is same in both "Kaplan's" and the same one, that you can buy from www.amazon.com) instead and supplement it with top rated books in every subject.
