kaplan q bank completed 1 mth before exam-78%
kaplan simulated-84%(2 weeks before)
usmle cd -85%(1 week before)
nbme 1- 640 (correlates to 247 , 3 weeks before exam)
kaplan q book-75%

many congratutations for an amazing score.
please list u'r preperatory material and plz tell if BRS,kaplan patho,FA enough for patho. from where should i study histology,slides and ct/mri images.

to mdman,
i felt that my exam was good n i was sure that ill get in 90s .i think it was also coz i had got 640 in nbme.but i knew that it would be less than predicted by nbme coz my exam was difficult .
to karyosome,
i studied only kaplan notes.but for patho most people recommend goljan audio.i dint have time for goljan but i read his 100 pgs high yield notes.for slides i dint do anything but u can try webpath the internet pathology laboratory

Are you serious when you say that you did only from Kaplan notes and score so hight? Is it possible? or the different q books you do that help you more?
I am really confuse on the whole issue of which subject from which book? Can you help me?

kaplan is all that u need .i had bought hy books n brs but dint even touch them.kaplan guys know what one needs to know for step1.do q book n q bank well.qestions ultimately help.

Great Score and hope you match in the program that you want!!!
It's is true read kaplan Notes there are very good!!!
I am using them right and only had to used HY embriology as a complement.

i will be needing my step 1 notes.sorry for that. saw step 1 books on e bay dont know about kaplan .i think u can get kaplan q book in market.it is illegal to sell other kaplan lecture notes.

i'm doing the 2002 kaplan Qbank that a friend gave me. do u think its okay or should i subscribe afreash from the net. also for cell bio,hist and mol.bio the questions in qbank r very few. r those enough.

hi renu!
congrats for such a nice score. i am also preparing for step1. just following kaplan notes,q book,q bank.,simulated cd.is that enough? i am also having high yield molecular biology,neuroanatomy,histology,do you suggest to do that also?
i am also having goljan audio,will try to listen it.
how much time did you spent for preparing for step1? as i am appearing in oct.05.just completed only patho notes till now.

do goljan high yield 100pgs n his audio.i also did blackwell free qs .sorry i forgot to mention abt it.i dint do hy.kaplan is ok.if u cant follow kaplan in neuro u can see that topic from hy.thats how u can use it best.but stick to the main book.oct is fine.first reading-2 mths then 2nd reading-6 wks is how time is divided but varies from person to person .i gave 2 n 1/2 readings but i think 3 readings should be the target.

q bank qs n usmle cd r very much the same to actual exam but expect 20-30% qs from outside these sources but there is no other source to refer.so stick to kaplan stuffn usmle cd.

i'm IMG from India.
i graduated in 2001
i'm preparing step1 since last 8 months off & on.
finished first reading just now.
exam on 23 aug.
but my Q BOOK score is av. 60%
what can i do.
how ccan i bring efficiency in prep.
i used kaplan notes 2001 ed,
Goljan review patho
goljan audio
Not done Q bank yet.

HI after fisrt reading qbook scores can be low.dont worry.read kaplan notes again n 2001 ed has some errors.after reading again then go for q bank.try fa for anat n pharma revision .try to learn the important stuff first instead of trying to learn everything.

congratulations on passing step 1..
I am planning to give step 1 in sept ...finished 1st reading ..my worst subjects are bio chem,molecular biology and gnetics...could u plz tell me how much q u have in exam from these subject..and how much we have to study and what material we use for these subjects perticularly...I use only Kaplan stuff ...is that enough for these 3 ..
