I DID TRY THE TRICK after the score had been reported to the oasis site, and I got the following message:
Our records indicate that you have already passed this Step or the equivalent NBMEŽ Part. The USMLE Policy on Reexamination generally does not allow applicants to retake a Step examination if they have already passed that Step or the equivalent NBME Part.
It does not give a place for doubt... does it??

To all getting the following message when trying the OASIS tick:
Our records indicate that you are already registered for this Step. You may not apply for a Step if you are already registered for that Step. If you fail a Step, you may submit another application for this exam, but certain time limits apply for retaking a Step. For complete information, refer to Reexamination and Reapplication in the ECFMG Information Booklet and Time Limit and Number of Attempts Allowed to Complete All Steps in the USMLE Bulletin of Information
I figured out that this message will appear if you try to re-apply for the step you took during your actual elegibility period ( the elegibility period you chose for the step you just took). After that, if your OASIS hasn't been reported, the application should go through, not meaning you failed. In conclusion, you should try the trick untill your OASIS has been reported.

I took my exam 11 days a go, nothing has been reported yet to my OASIS, but I decided to register (I know I cant do it until I get a report in Oasis), anyway, and it continue with the application, off course I stoped before they charged me.
That doesn't mean anything yet?

Hi, is me again.
One week after I did my exam I got the message " Our records indicate that you are already registered for this Step. You may not apply for a Step if you are already registered for that Step. " Then after 11 days with out anything on my Oasis, I try to reapply, but it let me go through with the application.
Today I checked 15 days later, and still nothing is yet reported on Oasis.

I have not recieve the letter report yet, but I got the red text.

My oasis was updated finally last week and got results today....
I PASSED!!!! 217/88 Thanks to everyone for your support.

Does anyone know if the "score trick" works for US students? I found the oasis website, but it won't let me apply for access (not to mention my scores probably aren't reported there). When I try to re-register at the NBME site I don't get any red text... just regular text saying an open registration already exists... I start a clerkship on Monday and would be much less anxious if I could find out if I passed or not! :?
Also does anyone know if reporting is quicker in the fall... it took 6 weeks+ to get my scores last time - in the summer.

Hello everyone,
I've posted previously on this topic, but feel the need to help people avoid unnecessary heart-ache.
I tried the OASIS trick previously on Part 1 prior to my marks being posted and got the "cannot register as already registered" response (which means nothing in terms of passing, as all it is saying is that you can't register to rewrite the exam before it has been marked).
The "trick" part is SUPPOSED to happen after they have changed your file to say that the results have been reported. If you try to apply at the this point, you are not supposed to be able to (and it should give a message about not being able to re-write an exam that you have PASSED).
:!: However :!: :!: I did this trick and it let me start registering for the exam (which means I failed :shock: ). Low and behold, 3 days later I received my marks in the mail and had passed :mrgreen: <:flag:> (ie the trick IS NOT reliable, so don't let yourself get psyched over nothing - wait the extra 3 days).
