Gadolinium is used in scanning brain and thalium in GI, maybe I am wrong. the idea is from the questions I have read.

Gadolinium is similar to Fe3+.it can be intaken by the fast-growing tissue ,like tumor. therefore, gadothinium is used for tumor image. while thallium ,which can be absorbed by the myocarial cell through the sodium pump, reflect the activity of the myocardium.
