Hello bbb,
I'm presently based in California on an h4 visa.I have done my M.D peds from my home - country & wd like to go in for a Peds residency here as well . Would you b kind enough to plz tell me what options do I have for a residency here esp in California(I have excellent usmle scores,1st attempt).I wd like to know whether there are any programs here in Ca ( esp Southern Ca) that do sponsor H1.Also if I do go-in for a J1 program,do I still need to go-back to my native -country/out of Usa//serve an underserved area here even if our G.C gets issued by then( which my husband applied for last year)?

First, to my knowledge, you can't get a green card while you are on a J-1 visa during residency. Please check with an immigration attorney on this one to be certain.
I have no knowledge about how California operates with regards to residency - except that it's different from anywhere in the country. As for finding a S. California H1b program, practice your telephone skills and start calling.

hi bbb,,
i am an img too and have the similar question as does the img 2 has. if we join on j-1 visa and by the time of completion of residency if the spouse gets the green card then do we come under the green card coverage.so that we can avoid going to home country.
ur advice is needed bbb ,thanks.
