narcissism is inability to love...and the narcissistic defense is someone's belief that his omnipotent rage will destroy lovings ones, and himself. In an effort to protect his own life, he turns his fury on himself, thus preserving others, who keeps him alive, from destruction.

Alice,I feel your energy. According to Kaplan, Splitting, Projection andDenial are considered Narcissistic defense mechanisms. Splitting is under immature defense mechanisms in some books
