When an extracellular object or organism invades the body, it is not considered cell mediated immunity, the body uses antibody, complement and phagocytes.

Cell mediated immunity defense mechanism is triggered once the infectiouse agent Invades a host cell => Intracellular like viruses and tumor cells, usually requireing the host cell to also be destroyed.
