hi guys,
i just got score for my step 2 Ck...and i failed it...got just 66....though i did well in kaplan q bank 70 to 75%...usmle world 50%.....q book 80%....but still i cudnt make it....now i dont know wt to improve...im still in stage of denail....can sumone tell me how to study now...im retaking in Oct (inshAllah)
im a fresh graduate....attempted for Ck first....have to take step 1 and CS yet....i studied from kaplan books and first aid...revised them thrice...and topics were on my tips...what a faliure...
one more thing.....ppl say usmle world is like quite similar to real exam...but i found that real exam wasnt that hard....usmle world was unnecessarly hard....should i take kaplan n usmle world both this time or just one.....plzzz help me out of this .....i dont see anything further except dark

what kind of questions were in your exam? histology? immunology? physiology? anatomy?

well.....histology wasnt there at all....but immunology was there in clinical form ofcourse....anatomy..one question frm it...genetics was alottt there....but those questions r in kaplan CK books....nothing was frm step 1 other than that.....all together 5% ques wud be frm step 1 i guess....biostats was very easy....inspite of all this...i still failed....

ammm....my worst was peds... others were boderline....just gynae obs was above line..... wt do u mean by reading the ques throughly?...i didnt get you....in exam?...if in exam...ya i do agree sumtimes while reading a ques my mind wasnt there for a sec.....coz i had a pressure of clearing this step....hv many life plan depending on it....may be this was my mistake....you hv already passed from this situation or hv to take usmle yet?

i failed step 2 once and taking it again on monday next week. did you do kaplan IM qbank and the Kaplan Simulated Exam? I found them to be helpful. From what I remember from my exam, I had a lot of specific direct questions. Strict memorization.

Don’t lose your hope. You can make it next time. I recommend that you retake the ck in 2-3 months so you won’t forget the things that you already know. Read the Kaplan’s thoroughly once more and then do more questions. Maybe you have problem with time limit , if yes... practice more to increase your speed. Good Luck.

thanx mate....i will try to concentrate on this part...but i dont think it was a prob coz i finished each block 3 or 4 min before...problem is sumwhr else....but where that i dont know....but certainly im retaking it in 3 months....thanx once again
any more suggestions for me doctors??????

i pray for your success...
its good to note that you are retaking the exam within 3 months...i think thats an optimal time limit...fix a time table for each day and stick to it.....try to focus on solving questions within a fixed time limit ...try doing atleast 2 timed tests a day..since you have already read the theory i think you should try solving more questions this time...keep studying and do your best...you will get through with flying colours next time, my good wishes with you...all the best! may God be with you..

I think you may have read too much in between the lines of the Q in the exam????Could that have happen?????I'm sure you'll do well the next time.

well Malaysian.....to be very true...i dont know still where did i make the mistake...as i told earlier...i finished each block 3 or 4 minutes before time....so i i think time wasnt a prob for me...my scores were good in kaplan n q book....ok in usmle world....though i didnt get any ques similar to usmle world.....i still say the exam was very easy....direct, to the point questions....its a issue for me to know WHAT TO IMPROVE....i think i shud add more books with kaplan like blue prints etc....i will just go through books once and do kaplan and usmle world again.....coz i really have no idea where did i mess up....
it was my first step..i didnt take step 1 yet....do u guys think it was a prob becoz i dont know much from step 1...but still there were only around 5% question frm basic sciences...one of guys said may be u failed coz u didnt take step 1 and went for step 2 first...
but if it is a case...i cant take step 1 now...coz im prepared for step 2 CK....im going for it....what u guys say????????

Hi dr79, i know its hard to digest the fact when there is such a lot of difference between our expectations and the scores,but like everyone said,finishing the step 2 now would be easier cos u already know the subjects fresh,2 to 3 months would be enough,did u take NBME last time?dont worry,next time ur goal should be a 99. Tasneem.

Does anyone know if the questions are recycled for Step 2 CK if you fail them? Or you get a completely new exam?
