no, Cushing syndrome is hypercortism of all other qrigin , not only adrenal qrigin, such as exogenous or malignant tumor, do not forget, small cell carcinoma of the lung also secrete steroid!

i agree with u fleuve it's actually quite a vague dictinction and i don't think it will be dwelled too much this way on the exam, as i hv always read either pituiray cushing's or just cushing's where u hv to sort out whether cushing's syndrome is due to high ACTH or independent of it [remeber deamethasone suppression test] tht's porobably more important!

sorry I made a mistake, small cell carcinoma of the lung do not secrete steroid, it shoud be ectopic ACTH

fleuve, you didn't make a mistake, small cell lung ca produce ACTH and also ADH.
