1)Increases venous capacitance, lowering left atrial pressure 2)lowers anxiety 3)BUT IN CAN ALSO CAUSE RESPIRATORY DEPRESSION!

i don't think it will have any significant efect if edema is due to left heart failure name some other drugs tht may be given in acute pulmonary edema!

Yeah its weird but not entirely incorrect saying morphine is given for pulmonary edema. But definitely as said above LASIX! Also NITROGLYCERINE!

Morphine shud be avoided in Narcotic induced Pulmonary edema.....b/c it is PCO2....hyperventilation.....so use narcotic antagonists.....

Pulmonary Edema is of two types - Cardiogenic pulmonary edema
- Non cardiogenic pulmonary edema (ARDS)
Both have different managements.Morphin is definitely indicated in Cardiogenic pulmonary edema. The patient is markedly dyspenic due to stimulation of J-receptors ,morphin - Reduces appreshension of the patient
- Causes venodilation and preload leading to reduction in pulmonary edema (cardiogenic)
Best of luck
