Dear Friends,
I have my step 1 score..just 208/85...
I am much depressed. It's really low and i know most residency prg. rely on ONLY step 1 scores and not on Step 2 in Match process..
I apprciate if you will advise a little about what should I do now and frankly let me know prospects for Internal medicine prg.? I think it's now impossible for me to get into IM in north-east region? What factors prg. directors consider for IM progarms?
Please reply (plz be frank and say whole truth and no consolations) and thankful to me.

sam

Hey Samsung cool down...i am not so sure but i think that u may be only talking about University programs.. . There are many community hospitals and university AFFILIATED programs that are more lenient. UR score is good. Also i have heard that a lot of programs look to see if u have any U.S. clinical experience. Try to approach any doctors that u know to do an observership...all it is is just observing them...u cant touch the pt and u dont get any pay. But the time that u do will definately count towards getting into IM. If u know anyone that is a hospital nurse or a pharmacist, they may be willing to ask a doctor they know for u. I know many people that have approached docs that are not even known to them...but u get a better chance if u know someone. Good luck!

Sorry my baby was crying so i had to finish fast...i forgot to tell u one more thing...after doing an observership, get a Letter of REcommendation from the person. U will gt a good chance. Many programs look for Step 2 also...so dont worry. Just sit tight and do ur part.

your scores are fine. You will get something ... remember, you only need three years to get your license.

Scores of 85 are nothing to be ashamed of - we hire people with scores such as yours every year!nod

Hey,

Cheer up! 85 is not a bad score. Concentrate n taking step 2 now. Most programs will look at step 2 scores and clinical experience. Good luck!
