These may seem like a stupid question, but Im taking the step 1 in 2 months, and I still dont get the antibody titers.

Dont know about 1/1000 being used but actually is 1/1000 is higher titre .Cause its actually Dilution we are talking about. Something which reacts at more dilution have more antibodies then which reacts at lesser (e.g. Widal test for S. typhi which is significant at 1/128 or 1/256 by some labs) and its most of the time serial dilution like 32 64 128 256
