Hello everyone!..
Finally I will sit for the USMLE step 1..I graduated from Egypt in 2000, came to the states in 2001, and after many jobs in sales and compuetr related jobs, I decided to go back to medicine. 
I NEED YOUR GUYS SUPPORT!!!!!!!
Just got a leave of absence from my current job and decided to sit for 5-6 months before taking the test. I may never go back to this job.
I plan to study from these resources:-
BRS physio
BRS Patho
HY Gross and neuro and embryo
Lippincott Pharma
Micro made Ridiculously Simple
BRS behavioral
THEN..FA and Step UP
I need advice on Bio please!
I also have Goljan audio and his notes and like 160 hrs of DVDs
After so many years away from studying I do need an honest study partner in Brooklyn NY area who plans to take the test around Oct-Dec
I enjoy reading for you all..keep up the good work and give me advice and support pweeez!

Oops..I forgot the whole purpose of a journal!..any way, here is what I did today,
15 pages BRS physio.. I should finish cell physiology today at least!..
I want to finish physio then Bio then Pharma then go for the Pathology and anatomy and micro and at last behavioral???..any suggestions? please help!

GL in your studies. Start w/ your DVD's now since it takes time.. That's a good move! You seem to have all the good resources.. Good luck!

hi egypt2000, a good start with yr diary!!! most people use kaplan notes for biochem, i don't use them for myself, but i listened to some part of kaplan biochem one time ---they r nice. i'm using FA and HY for biochem, i'm not sure if they r enough for the exam.....but u have 5-6 months time, why not go for kaplan biochem??? GOOD LUCK.

ok, as today I finished the first chapter in BRS cell biology..wow..I loved it after I recalled all this great info..I also read some hormone mechanisms..I feel like this is the best way to get things together in my head, is to digest basic concepts and mechanisms first. it's 12:30 am now in NYC..I also read ANS (the first part of the next chapter in BRS physio)..what makes sense now is to finish ANS from pharma..hopefully I can do this before I sleep tonight!..
sorry guys if I am a little slow compared to the speed of some other people I read their diaries..at this stage and after all this time away, I need to get things down for the first time..any suggestions about how to pick up speed digesting stuff I never touched in 10 years will be very helpful!...I love u all..Thanks

i already took my step1 , waiting 4 my results...
i studied from the books u mentioned
i did bio from Kaplan
if u cant get it HY would be fine, dont memorize biochemical structures except for AA.
If u r gonna use Kaplan DVDs,just use the whole Kaplan series.
but wherever u study...dont miss Kaplan lectures.
Never loose Goljan audios ....really helps
FA...FA.....FA.....
if u like studying by subjects, dont loose more time in system based studyin"StepUp"
as u should start doing Qs as soon

I'm starting my sixth yr soon and I hope to sit for my Step 1 exam sometime between July-August 2006. I plan to start preparing for Step 1 by the end of the year(6months studying), I'm setting out my strategy and gathering the information/resources I need. I've noticed that the majority of Step 1 takers praise the Kaplan notes and FA, til now they are the books I plan to buy. I was thinking abt the Kaplan DVD's as well since Video/Audio makes studying more interesting than just reading, what are your thoughts about those ? Do you have any idea where I could get them ? I'd also like to know where I could purchase FA, HY, BSS and Qbank book.
I live in cairo, any help would be appreciated.
