Hi everybody:

Since sometimes is really hard to get the desired position trough the NRMP, I think is good to have other choices handy. MY question to all of you is if there is a posibility to work as a general doctor in USA, like family practice in an isolated or populated area, without doing residency, I mean being ECFMG certified, what is the procedure to do this if possible?.

I saw a topic in this forum regarding this issue some weeks ago, but they said only a few states allow this, how can I know for sure all about this, or where can I enquire what are the states, what the requirements are, etc.

I really appreciate your inputs

shaking head Sorry, you need to have residency to get a license. Most states require at least one year of US residency to get a permanent license.

just one more question to BBB and everybody else, suposing I did one year of residency to get a lisence in certain state, suposing I got a lisence that way, so I am not a specialist but I am lisenced anyway, so what would be my options? could I work as a family doctor, general practicioner? I guess I could see any type of patients and I just would be as a liasion to the specialist?, how much would I make? where can I work?

thank you very much for your responses

I really can't answer that question because I work with people in the residency programs. I don't know if you would be eligible to get on staff in different hospitals because they want residency verification. I don't want to give you the wrong information.
