Hey!

Has anyone heard anything about the P.A.S.S. program in IL? The information on their website is very limited and they weren't that helpful over the phone but it could possibly be my last chance so any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

I have the videos of the PASS program & they are really good. He explains in a levle that a student can understand w/out the phd gibberish. I also have the kaplan videos, but they are too deep to get a good grasp of the material. I only wish that I had known about their review when I took mine. I might have passed.

hi y'all! smiling face i took it just recently and it is wonderful way of looking at things... dr. francis is a fantastic teacher but also be prepared for the different way he teaches. his emphasis is on concepts and clues in the questions for u to answer. there is a lot of memorization u need to do and also certain areas are not covered very well - for example pharm. so take the good - which is a lot - and fill in where u need to. there are a lot of people who came in after failing step 1. everyone is helped there. they teach the methods that examiners use so that u can figure out where they are going with a q. ofcourse there'll be some where no one knows where that came from. good luck anyway whatever u decide to do. !!grin

Although i definitely recommend the pass program videos, just be careful though. I watched all the videos, and there are tons of mistakes. Take whatever Dr. Francis says with a grain of salt.

(I don't mean to bash him, i think he's a genius! But if you notice he goes for many hours straight without referring to ANY notes (even Kaplan profs have notes on front of them). So what that means is that he very often will confuse things without realizing it)

I have those videos and they do not go into the depth needed to pass STEP 1. Avoid these.

I don't think it should be used as a sole source of information, as he's videos don't cover EVERYTHING, but many individual topics covered by Dr. Francis are much better than with Kaplan videos.

I particularly liked the Biochem videos. And i honestly suggest Pass and only Pass program for Biochem! There hasn't been one Qbank, NMS, Rapid Review, or BSS Biochem question that i haven't been able to answer using my notes from the Pass program.

(Let alone the fact that he's much more entertaining than the Kaplan biochem dude!!!)

But yes agreed with Spiffymax, just use it as an adjunct to your other sources...
