i have a cousin who has her own clinic in new york. is it fine i do my observership in her clinic during my trip this june to usa for my step 2 cs exam? will a 2-week observership in a private clinic instead of hospital valuable? and will her recommendation letter valuable for my match? btw, i will be there with tourist visa (B visa), which does not allow to work in usa. so is it still fine that i do observership in her clinic? thanks a lot for any information in advance.

I guess it is better than nothing, BUT, you really should get something at a teaching hospital so you can get US faculty LoR

hi, retroviridae, thanks for your reply. another question, will it be considered us clinical experience? since i am living out of usa. the only time i will be usa before i apply for match is the coming step2 cs trip. i don't think it is possible for me to find any teaching hospital.

from what I've been told, the answer is no. Non-teaching hospital work is basically useless ... but I think it must be better than nothing
