Hey Reet...firstly...is it aftr your first reading that you are getting this score?...and secondly...what resource are you using for the questions...Q bank?...Q book?....if you are using Q bank...i'd advise you not to use it so early in your reading...it will be helpful if you used Q book initially...unless i know what resources you have used and stuff...lookign forward to hearing from you soon....Good luck!

Hi kaira...have been a bit irregular in posting yet again... ...I gave up on lippincott like a day after i decided to use it...not that it isn't a great book...it was a considerably easy read as compared to kaplan and i read through a couple of chapters on CVS from it...but then i became apprehensive...cos it has a lot of detail...and sure the way its given there helps build great concepts but pharmacology isn't allll concept...is it now??...it is a lot of memorization....so i just decided to go for kaplan....it has a lot of high yield stuff from what i have been told like picking out the drigs of choice for a disease.... any thing that i donot understand...i turn to lippincott for it(which by the way i don't have to that often...so thats a good sign)....a friend of mine advised me to go through kaplan and to know FA inside out for pharmacology...she said the questions on the exam for pharma are pretty straight forward...and that those two resources should suffice....that being said....i do have a feeling that i have made the right choice...so am onto CNS pharmacology...just about to finish it...still have trouble remebering the drugs and all the crappy side effects and stuff...but oh well...repetition would be the key...with pharma and microbiology!!

Did the chapters on antibiotics, antivirals, antifungals and antiprotozoals/helminths today....It is the most horrible feeling to start with pharma in the mroning...I literally have to drag myself...but i work hard at it...take little breaks every now and then...today was good in the sense that i finally have figured out how i am going to get Pharmacology to eventuall stick!!...I had pharma cards and had planned to use them once i had read through the notes..but today as i was having the most terrible time trying to remember the antimicrobials i just took them out on a whim...it helped me quite a bit...i made extra notes on the cards wherever i thought was nescessary...and arranged them according to the drug classes instead of in alphabetical order...i think it will prove beneficial once i review pharma the second time round...as far as retaining stuff is concerned...well...today was just as bad as any other day at pharma...but i have come to terms with it...i can't spend too much time on my first read either...cos volatile as it is...i am bound to forget the drugs...anyways...i need some more advice...yet again!...how essential is it to listen to the corresponding lectures in pharmacology?...i know they did wonders for me in biochem...i did listen to the ones for CVS but was soooo bored and could not concentrate...looking forward to some help here!till tomorrow...

Its been a long time since i last posted!!....my computer got messed up...and is still not a 100% fixed...and it sucks because i was thinking of getting Q bank in a few more days...oh well!1 hopefully it will be sorted out by then...so i got done with pharmacology....finally!!!!did a test from Q book..scored a 60%...not all that great...so pharmacology needs a lot more work!...any ways...moved on to starting my second read...but just couldn't get the flow goin...ended up wasting the entire day yest...and by evening just gave up on studying...o in the past two days(finished pharma on the7th)...i just read through the first two chapters from BRS physio and like half of GIT...today how ever was more productive comparativley....finished off CVS...went through the explainations of about 20 questions from my first Qbank test on pharmacology...have decided to do around 30 odd questions everyday...i just hope it sticks!!...heres the plan....read through physiology along with FA...carry on with pharma questions with that...and follow this by solving Q bank fro physiology...better be off...till tomorrow!

Hey Octo...good to hear from you!I went to med school in Pakistan...read your post in the exam experiences ...very well said!It indeed is difficult to get back to reviewing stuff after one has graduated...that said,we still don't have the system based teaching method being implemented in our med schools...its changing but not quite there ...so it is really during/after final year that one can integrate and correlate well!I just hope it works out just great for all of us...glad you like my diary... Finished physiology yest...went through FA too...got access to Q bank today and started doing questions...did about 50 with explainations and then another 25...shall go through the expl for those tomorrow...shall be starting with patho...and will continue doing Qbank for physio side by side...till later...ciao

Started with pathology...have gone through about four chapters...although i could have managed a lot more...but couldn't manage a lot of studying today....have to get down to doing patho questions from Q bank soon too as i got done with the physioology bit...scored a cumulative of 65%...which isn't all that great...so am a bit low about that...but oh well...

Thankyou Kaira!!!i was thinking if you didn't show up in a couple more days...i'd probably lose my resolve in posting here... ...but its all good!!...i am going through the explainations...jotting down stuff along with it too...and takes a looong time!!i attempt the questions in the timed mode though....and then read through the explaiantions...am going through BRS and FA simultaneously...and am trying my level best to fit in the Goljan lectures...have listened to the ones on cell injury till now...cos i gets hectic...and no matter how hard i try...i can only manage an hour and a half at the most for the lectures....the lectures are amazing so far!!!...He is a brilliant teacher...and i have you to thank for recommending the lectures....i presume you have aready heard the lectures?? So today i read through the heart and hemodynamic dusfunction ...did 50 q from q bank...read the expl to 40...and then moved onto the Goljan lectures...the last half of the lecture on cell injury...couldn't go through FA...get down to it tom...dead tired!!better be off...

Went through another two chapters today...listened to the corresponding goljan lectures...they are awesome!!...and i wish i had gone through them with my first read which would have made life a lot easier!...did another 50 q for patho from Q bank...read through the expl for 25 of them...have 25 more to go...but am saturated at the moment...shall go through them first thing tom morning....listening to the lectures takes a long time...but i think every minute is worth it....had planned on being done with pathology in about 12 days but it might just take slightly longer...sall have to see how it works out!...till later...
