Hi cyra, good luck with "the beginning"!!! so u have like 7 months to go....i'm sure u will make it with great success. yah...i agree with 99doc, u won't remeber the q if u do now, then having to go back the same q after yr reading...so its time consuming.

Thanx for the welcome Tanisha and Kaira... Kaira....the qbook would definitely be of great help...i ve heard that the questions in q book are simpler than the ones in Qbank...will get that asap....n work on it....i finally finished renal physiology today....spent wayyy too much time on it though....and still i donot feel that i have that good a grasp on the subject..just did the brs review questions at the end of the chapter...and hmmm.. .....my weaknesses i believe are the acid base balance and cos i spent like four days(attributable to pure laziness!!)...by the end of it had forgot the formulae....soo..wrote em down on "post it notes" and stuck em on my door...so i can keep looking at them....shall give renal physio another reading in about two more days ...an all in one go...so that it sticks...am about to start respiratory physio now....in like a few minutes... ...hopefully will cover most of it by tonight...till laterz...

hey cyra its gr8 tht u r dne wth renal physio by now...ur soo right the acid base formulas r soo dreadful.....ur idea of "post it notes" on walls is gr8.....maybe i cn follow too... laziness i feel is the part and parcel of everybodys life and especially during studying a boring topic...dnt worry u will get over wth it soon... work hard kaira

hey kaira...i def hope i get over the laziness factor...actually i think i pretty much have....finished off resp physio yest...n did some review questions in the morning...gave cvs a quick review from FA.....got the kaplan qbook...did test 1...but was soo bummed.... ....didnot do well on it at all...i think out of the 50 questions there i got about 20 either wrong or had no clue watsoever.....*sigh*.....it was a bit of a crusher....i cud narrow down to two choices...but then my eventual choices turned out to be wrong....frustration!!!!....but a little while ago i came across some posts which said that such questions shud be taken more as a learning tool....so i read up on the explainations(whcih i had just not read cos i felt all annoyed...till a little while ago.. ..)....feel much better....shall have to fight it out....shall spend some more time doing more questions tomorrow....hope it works out better than today....wish me luck!!

So....pathology it is.....i must say that i am enjoying going thru pathology...it was one of my favourite subjects at med school....so that a plus...didnot however meet my goal day before yesterday and yesterday.....wanted to get over with the genetics bit in BRS but i just figured it was too much info to digest all in one day....read theu a couple of disorders...shall do that chapter in parts...a little everyday....so that it sticks...am onto immune disorders and want to finish neoplasia today too...better get down to studying!....

so far so good!....am done with anemias and the disorders of the lymphoid system...pretty saturated...taking off till the evening...ended up watching american idol yest...seeing bo not win....... ..and going out....so much so for going thru nutrition etc...for this evening...plan on a quick review of the chapters i did today from FA....n may be nutrition....which i doubt...those two easy bits are just jinxed i guess!... i just bought the UCV basic sciences atlas from ebay...hasn't been delivered as yet...hopefully it was a good call...cos i ve always found identifying patho slides a bit difficult...plsu i think looking at slides n pictures wud make stuff stick to mind better...the person who i bought it from is giving some cds for immunology and microbiology as a bonus.. ...lets see hoe those work out for me...just wondering....is BRS actually enough?...i read in the patho forum that goljan rapid review is really good too....n someone had said to use both...need advice on that.... ....cos i am laready almost half way thru with BRS...appreciate all the help i can get....thanx..

hey rahul_amara...well...join the gang!...nov....thats about 5 months...it is doable...if u browse through journals and exam experiences u will see that ppl have done it in even lesser time!....so can u... ... have u scheduled ur test date?....many ppl work better under pressure...may be you are one of those ppl...if u set ur test date that might motivate(read scare!) u into studying and meeting deadlines...although my suggestion wud be just planning it for nov...and then once u r done with ur first read...u d be able to figure out how much time u wud take for at least another two reads...which wud definitely be lesser than the first one...n then setting up a date... consistency is the key to this exam, i feel...it is always difficult to take a start...n even more difficult to set up a pace and maintain it....but u shud not give up...it sounds cliche...but slow n steady wins the race...dont stress ur self out over it...start at a pace u feel comfortable with...take time out for urself...plan something fun...something which relaxes you as a treat after u r done studying...incentive!!set goals but make them realistic....it will all come with time...when i started studying i found it hard too...but then as i said...just keep at it...do not give up...and u will be fine...start up ur very own prep journal...it is very helpful...keeps u on track...not to forget the motivation... ...wish u all the luck...

Today just isn't that great!...am left with topics i absolutely detest in pathology...have no idea how to go about doing them...just finished reading through the nervous system...tried my best to retain stuff....and thought i was doing a pretty good job...only to find that it wasn't so when i did the review questions... ....one more chapter that i haven't been able to get any where with is Genetics....*sigh*....however there is one highlight!....still have to go through the musculoskeletal system...which is not all that bad...today would probably conclude my first reading of pathology....will then turn to Q book and Q bank....see how that turns out!...

As long as u hav goljan high yields and notes corresponding to his lectures ur good to goo...after reading u definately cn goo thro q book to gauge where u stand .....i agree wth u genetics is very boring bt u need many reads to stick it in ur grey matter.... now tht ur just reading thts why studying is becoming monotonus and boring ...bt once u start solving questions u will be back on track...

hey...read through skin and nutrition... ...went thru the two tests in Qbook for pahtology...did kinda ok...a 67% on one and a 70% on the other...read through the explainations for test 1..jotted down notes on stuff i was either clueless about or just thought i should definitely remember...that should come in handy later..was just too tired after doing test 2...so just didnot go through the explainations...get down to it tomorrow... need some advice now...should i go on n start with Qbank...and spend about three days going thru questions in Qbank...OR...start with another subject and take time out everyday for Qbank...i think the latter...but i guess just need some kind of affirmation as to what i am doing is right...probably start with biochem next...have the kaplan lecture notes...which a friend lent me...just wondering whether they are good...cos they say they are not complete without the lectures at the test centre...how about lippincott's biochem??...have looked at the biochem forum...but still can't make up my mind...any advice would be very welcome! kaira...thanx for all your advice...its great to know that i can always turn to you for help!
